ENVIRONMENTAL engineering specialists Jomas Associates has branched out from their London HQ and opened an office in Wales.
The company, run by founder Roni Savage, has created a base in Cardiff, which is run by principal engineer and chartered geologist James Field. The company undertakes investigations and works on land being considered for development where there may be issues with contamination or other environmental factors to consider. Jomas also carries out geotechnical engineering assessments to inform the design of foundations for buildings and structures.
James said: “We provide information and support around any site where there may be environmental issues in the ground or below the ground. We carry out historical research into the sites, intrusive investigations and testing, as well as remedial work, if required. We undertake remediation verification to ensure all planning conditions are met and verified.”
Jomas Associates provides environmental engineering support for housing developers, commercial developers, local authorities, and others in the construction sector. They work on a diverse portfolio across the UK from greenfield sites to former petrol filling stations, through to former paintworks and chemical works.
“This is an important milestone for Jomas Associates,” Roni said. “We are an ambitious company with excellent customer service at our core. As we grow, we wish to have offices around the UK. This is a further step along that road. James is highly experienced and we are excited to be able to offer expertise closer to home for customers in Wales and the South West.”
James joins the Jomas team after a successful career working in various companies, ranging in size from local to international consultancies. Graduating from the University of Plymouth with a First Class Honours degree, James began his career in Exeter and has since gained valuable experience working out of Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, London and overseas, in Australia.
He moved to South Wales four years ago after meeting his partner Debbie and they are now proud parents to their daughter Mared. James is a keen surfer, mountain biker and has a deep passion for industrial heritage, including coal and metalliferous mining and all aspects of historical construction.
Established in 2009, Jomas have now worked on many projects facilitating the reclamation of brownfield sites, including sites on Fish Island in Hackney, as well as other sites in London, Surrey, Hampshire, Midlands, Manchester, and across the UK.
