The Kit to Deliver

At Jomas we excel at using our expertise to support the land development process and reduce our clients’ costs, whilst also ensuring that planning obligations are achieved in a timely fashion. Our full access to a range of ground investigation equipment allows us to deliver a reliable and responsive service.

Windowless Sampler Borehole Rig

A self-propelled vehicle that suits restricted access drilling and is typically used where significant site disturbance cannot be tolerated. The rig is also suitable where access is limited. The maximum drill depth in ideal conditions is 12metres bgl, although 5-6m depth is commonly targeted. The equipment is used for determining the ground profile, obtaining soil/water samples, in-situ geotechnical testing and the installation of gas and groundwater monitoring wells.

Restricted Access Windowless Sampling

This rig is used for drilling in very restricted areas. These modular cut-down and handheld rigs can even be used in small internal rooms, where width of access and height is limited. Maximum depths achievable depend on ground conditions. The equipment is used for determining the ground profile, obtaining soil/water samples, in-situ geotechnical testing and the installation of gas and groundwater monitoring wells. These are particularly useful where ground information is required to the rear of terraced properties to assist with the design of basement/rear extensions.

Cable Percussive Borehole Rig

For deep borehole drilling to a maximum depth of 40m using a steel tripod ‘A’ frame, where access permits. The equipment is used for determining the ground profile, obtaining soil/water samples, in-situ geotechnical testing and the installation of gas and groundwater monitoring wells.

Restricted Access Cable Percussive Borehole Rig

For deep borehole drilling with limited access, typically drills to a maximum depth of 20-30m bgl. This rig is shorter in size and allows us to carry out soil sampling, in-situ geotechnical testing as well as the installation of monitoring wells where headroom/access is limited. The rig can work in rooms where height is as low as 2.5m.

Trial Pitting Equipment

For shallow sub-surface exploration to examine ground conditions. Pits are completed using mechanical excavators. Can also be used for soakage testing to inform drainage conditions.

Rotary Drilling Rig

Deep borehole drilling to depths in excess of 50m for soil sampling, geotechnical testing as well as the installation of gas and groundwater monitoring wells.
