Environmental engineer celebrates her business hitting £2m turnover

Engineer Roni Savage, founder of Jomas Associates, based in Uxbridge, London, is celebrating as her business exceeds a £2m turnover. Working with property & construction partners, the team are integral to commercial projects across the UK.

ENGINEER Roni Savage has recently celebrated a milestone when her business, Jomas Associates, reached a £2m turnover.

Roni who currently lives in Hillingdon, started the engineering and environmental consultancy in 2009, after making the decision to go it alone.

Roni had taken a BEng honours degree in Engineering Geology & Geotechnics at the University of Portsmouth, as well as a Master of Science (with distinction) in Environmental Management at the University of Exeter.

Roni subsequently had a successful career working for small to medium, as well as large international engineering consultancies. She was involved in projects across the UK, including the widening of major roads such as the A406 and M25.

She said: “When I set up Jomas, my goal was to turn over £50,000 and deliver great customer service and high-quality work to a small selection of clients working on my own.

“Through referrals and by following my vision of providing a customer focused service, I was able to generate revenues of just over £200,000 in that first year. Since then Jomas Associates has grown, on average, 30% annually.”

Today Roni’s team works with land developers including residential, commercial and industrial developers, local authorities and government bodies. They undertake investigations into ground conditions, support engineering design and carry out land contamination assessments and reclamation of brownfield/derelict sites.

“I am extremely passionate about our work. We seek to always combine a high level of customer service with quality. I wanted to provide a level of service which is not always available in the industry. Our focus has been on this and on saving our clients’ money, while striving to ensure they meet their legal and planning obligations as land developers and they don’t make costly mistakes,” Roni said.

Laurence Quail, director of planning for the Aitch Group, has worked with Jomas Associates for several years.

The Aitch Group specialises in property development including land acquisition, planning design, building and sales both residential and commercial development in London.

Laurence said: “Our relationship began about six years ago. I had recently completed a project and in the post completion project review it was flagged up the consultants we had been using for geo technical and land contamination assessments had not provided the service we hoped for or frankly needed.

“Initially I was impressed with Roni’s proactive approach to every challenge we threw her way. Since that time I have not changed consultant on any of the following projects. Roni has never let me down. I describe Roni as being in my A team of consultants I always have on my projects.”

Jomas Associates has just hit a turnover of £2million and is aiming for 50 per cent growth this year, both in turnover and Roni hopes to recruit more staff.

She said: “I do feel immensely proud of what we have achieved. I’m excited about the future and I have got a strong belief my business will continue to grow. Thank you to my amazing, supportive and hardworking team and our clients who have trusted us to deliver on our promises.”

Jomas Associates HQ is based in Stockley Park, Uxbridge, West London. The team also work across the UK from their other bases in Swindon, Manchester and Kent.
